This pattern is first worked in rows & then in rounds.
When working in rows, the beginning ch1 is not considered as a st.
When working in rounds, the ch3 is considered as dc.
The pattern is worked up using 2 different colours. The yellow colour is the main colour & referred as “MC", whereas the white colour is the contrasting colour & referred as “CC”.
The pattern is written in US terminology.

Ch16
Row1: with “MC" insert hook in the 2nd ch from hook & make sc all across. Turn. ( Total 15sts ).
Row2: ch1, sc in next st, (sc, hdc, dc) in next st, *sk 2sts, in 3rd st make (sc, hdc, dc),* rep. From *to* all across till last st, make sc in last st. Turn.
Row3: ch1, sc in next st, *sk 2sts, in 3rd st make (sc, hdc, dc),* rep. From *to* all across till the last st, make sc in the last st. Turn.
Row4 - 9: rep. Row3.
Now we’ll start working in rounds, continue without cutting the yarn.
Round1: ch1, turn, 2sc in the 1st st ( I.e. 1st corner), sk st, sc in next 13sts, sk st, make 4sc in the last st ( I.e. 2nd corner), sc in next 7sc side, make 4sc in the last st ( I.e. 3rd corner), sc in next 13sts, make 4sc in the last st ( I.e. 4th corner), sc in next 7sc side, so you’ll get to the 1st corner make 2sc, sl st in the beginning st.
Round2: with “CC" attach yarn in the 2nd ch of the 4sc group at the 1st corner, make ( ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc), ch1, *sk 3sts, in the 4th st make 3dc, ch1,* rep. From *to* twice, sk 3sts, in the 4th st ( that will be 2nd corner) make ( 3dc, ch2, 3dc), ch1, *sk 3sts, in 4th st make 3dc, ch1,* rep. From *to* One more time, sk 3sts, in 4th st ( that will be 3rd corner) make ( 3dc, ch2, 3dc), ch1, *sk 3sts, in 4th st make 3dc, ch1,* rep. From *to* twice, sk 3sts, in 4th st ( that will be 4th corner) make ( 3dc, ch2, 3dc), ch1, *sk 3sts, in 4th st make 3dc, ch1,* rep. From *to* one more time, sk 3sts, sl st in the beginning st.
Round3: sl st in next 3sts ( I.e. till you get in ch2sp), in ch2sp make ( ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc), ch1, [ *in next ch1sp make ( dc, dc in the 2nd st of the previous row, dc in the ch1sp ), ch1, * rep.
